Search the Shelves

It’s been a very productive weekend!

Not only was The Story Cellar open yesterday – and books were sold – but the website now has a bright new look AND a whole new search page.

It got me thinking about the things that hold us back. For a while now, I’ve been wanting to spread the word about The Story Cellar, but it felt like something was blocking me. I’d get half way there, but then stop. Not very productive.

One thing about running a second-hand bookshop out of your cellar on alternate Saturdays, is that you are pretty much guaranteed that your life will be full of people saying things like “it’s a nice hobby” or “it’s good you have something you enjoy.” And we all know what happens when we let those voices creep inside our heads, right? It’s like wanting to be a writer as a child and hearing “but you can’t make a living from that” etc etc etc.

I always doubted myself enough as it was. I didn’t need to hear it from anyone else.

So this weekend I finally decided to tackle one thing that I felt was holding me back: the website.

Not only is there now a new look and feel, but it’s now possible to search through all the titles. If you’re looking for a particular book, have a look and see if it’s on the shelves. If you want me to reserve it for next opening day, just email me.

Books sold this weekend: John Grisham’s The Rooster Bar and Redemption, H.G. Wells Selected Short Stories, and Tim Newbury Garden Design Bible.
